Biography
John Dennis is a Senior Business Coach with Bellows Consulting. He has a broad range of diversified experience building and managing growing companies, particularly in the areas of business development and strategic marketing. He has been successful with start-ups as well as major corporations, and has spent the majority of his career introducing innovative technology based products and solutions to a wide variety of end user customers.
John's expertise includes:
• Management development and team building - motivation, delegation, negotiation skills, decision making and implementation
• Business development - strategy development, partner and license selection and management, project management
• Strategic marketing - market analysis and customer identification, market expansion and value communication, sales management, customer relations
John's experience covers such wide ranges as business critical computing applications for telecommunications and financial institutions as well as business continuity solutions. In addition, he has held successful assignments in such varied industries as solar energy, speech technology, voice processing systems, and instrumentation.
Some of his specific accomplishments include:
- Led Telecom business development team to refocus on core industry infrastructure applications and grew revenue over 80% in three years to over $200M, 45% of Division revenue
- More than tripled business continuity software revenues and leveraged significant hardware and services revenue totaling over $50M. Introduced new product to double size of available market.
- Generated over 50 percent of company revenue at start-up through a personal revenue contribution, management of distributors, and establishment of domestic and international Value Added Reseller (VAR) program.
- Established, implemented, and managed technology license program with fees and royalties exceeding $5M for start-up. Licensees included Texas Instruments, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Olivetti, and Wang Laboratories.
- Doubled size of division as VP and GM by targeted market penetration and strategic new product introduction. Maintained 20% pretax profit through aggressive cost control.
Throughout his career, John has developed strong international experience and a broad sense of market direction and needs. He holds both a BA in Economics and an MBA with emphasis in marketing from Stanford University.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, John has always given back to the community through participation in non-profit organizations. In the past he has engaged with the YMCA and United Way. His love of the arts has had him involved with theater and music. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Tucson Jazz Society.
